There Is No Such Thing As A Bad Dog…

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Dogs cannot be bad; it is the handler who is poor. It’s irritating when walking down the sidewalk in your own neighborhood only to have a dog jump up on your clean clothes. When your front yard turns into a ready made toilet for your next door neighbor’s dog, it can be equally irritating. These dogs are only as irritating as the children who have not learnt any lessons in life; and you call them bad dogs?

Why blame the animal (or the kids) when the adult who’s supposed to be in charge isn’t acting responsibly? It is wise decision to take the help of a dog trainer to learn the tricks of handling this pet without spoiling its personality. To get to know a good trainer approach your vet or pet store; these trainers often hold private lessons with the pet and the owner but it is just as easy to solve your pet behavior problem by attending any online course on pet management or get some ideas and help from a dog training book or from online dog training tips. This training could teach owners how to be in command of their pets.

Many times trainers comment that dogs are easier to train than their owners. When you want the dog to be leash trained, make them practice in a small area away from other distractions. Owner and other residents get irritated when these animals bark even if it is a typical occurrence. Remember when they bark, they are trying to communicate, so if you shout or punish on them for this, it will only result in puzzling the poor creature.

So why does a dog bark?
When a dog needs attention, something to eat or drink, it will resort to barking. A barking dog can also be a strong deterrent to burglars, so completely suppressing its bark might not be in your best interest. It is not a good idea having your puppy bark, even during play if you are likely too shout at him when he barks as an adult. You could learn from your trainer how to reinforce certain behaviors in a puppy, which you desire, by giving them the occasional gift for being good.

How do you make your new puppy stop the undesired behavior?
Once your pet is rewarded regularly for good behavior they will begin to stop displaying the negative traits. Remember that you can not coach a dog to adapt to certain behaviors which are not part of his genetic make-up. In case you are particular about teaching your pet some specific behavioral skills, you should choose one from the breed which would provide you with the type of traits you are searching for.

When does a dog become good?
Good dogs are developed by patience, persistence and kindness.

Effects Of Global Warming

Friday, April 24th, 2009

A region’s climate may alter over time becoming hotter, cooler, drier or wetter. Natural selection will determine the organisms with characteristics appropriate to the new climate. Over hundreds and thousands of generations constant minute changes will eventually lead to a new species that can survive and thrive in the altered climate.

For a long time it has been believed that the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply is going to be a positive one. This is because the rising level of carbon-dioxide resulted for global warming will help the greeneries for photosynthesis.

Thus there will be a rise of agricultural production and food supply. The theorem received a boost after the evidence of a sharp rise of barley production as one of the effects of global warming in Iceland which was quite impossible even few years ago.

The success or failure of an organism is reliant upon its ability to reproduce young that mature to produce more young. Only the young with the greatest survival traits for any given habitat will endure. These surviving young will transfer their adaptive characteristics to the subsequent generations. This process is known as natural selection.

But more recent experiments and researches have revealed that the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply are not that good after all. AN UNEP 2001 report on the global warming has predicted that USA is going to have more droughts, floods, landslides and storms.

Winter will gradually be shortened and sobered down, while summer will rise in expansion and severity. Along with this heavy rain, big storm, heavy snowfall, high sea level, increasing coastal erosion and other problems will occur.

In warm climates organisms need to cool off. Animals’ strategies include heat avoidance (by going underground, or into water), or sweating and panting to induce evaporative temperature reduction. Plants must adapt to heat and drought by using leaves to minimise heat stress and water loss.

So to fight the effects of global warming, the researchers have established new methods of production with continuous revision of models. But still the best possible process to reduce the effects of global warming on agriculture and food supply is to be established.

causes of diabetes

The origin of diabetes is somewhat of a mystery. Findings that date back to the 19th century have given science what knowledge it does have about the disease. Diabetes was found to be linked to the pancreas in the early 1900’s by Canadians Frederick Banting and Charles H. Best. It wasn’t until the 1976 that a clarification of causation was expressed by Alexander Beam. In a paper on diabetes, Beam wrote that the susceptibility to develop diabetes was inherited, but that environmental factors could contribute to the onset of the disease.

Type II diabetes is created by increased aging, obesity, poor nutrition, high stress and physical inactivity. All of these conditions can be traced back to one source high acidity. Over-acid lifestyles and food choices have negative impacts on health, which is shown by the rapidly increasing diabetes rates in the country.

Diabetes is an old disorder. It has been known about for thousands of years and yet it is only today that it has become an epidemic. Part of the problem is that the nature of diabetes is a mystery, even to educated adults. People do not understand what insulin does in the body and how the insulin metabolism affects the health. Even current medical science has some misconceptions about the true nature of the disorder.

For example, many in the medical establishment believe that obesity is the cause of diabetes. However, obesity is a result of increased consumption of complex carbohydrates and simple sugars. The high rate of consumption of these products (which are made from the acidifying foods of sugar and processed wheat) leads to high acidity in the body. The body attempts to deal with the increase of waste acids by using fat to neutralize the acid. The fat is then stored as a safeguard for the cells in the body.

shiatsu austin

The first time you get a massage, you will be shocked at how much better you feel. Life comes at you fast and your body takes a beating. Your neck muscles ball up, your lower back is twisted and so on. To get the best result, you need to pick the right style.

Picture a massage and you, me and everyone else thinks of the version with a faintly Eastern feel to it. While such images are certainly correct, there are actually many styles of massages out there. In fact, the most popular is not Eastern at all.

The number on massage in America is the Swedish. Ask for a general massage, and this is what you get. It is a relaxing massage made up of smooth strokes and circular motions. Soft music is often played. Good for temporary relief for a day or two.

Not all massages are meant to be relaxing. Sometimes, the focus is not on how you feel during the massage, so much as it is on how you feel afterwards. In this case, we are talking about the famous deep tissue massage. Perhaps I should say infamous.

blood sugar levels

When it comes to uncovering the facts about diabetes, the layer of fiction that need to be sifted out can be very intimidating. Especially because with every fact that is declared, there are a number of fallacies which raise their ugly heads, partially on account of public ignorance, which is then convoluted by an equally large number of fake ‘cures’ that litter the marketplace. And once a diabetes first-timer has faced the bitter consequences of their misguided beliefs, he is also inclined to disregard other credible forms of treatment in spite of their reasonable and proven stance on diabetes management. One such victim of diabetes fallacies is Chinese medicine.

Evidence indicates that the Chinese may have been one of the very first to recognize diabetes and construct a system of diabetes treatment. In fact, ancient Chinese medical literature documents the treatment of this disease with Chinese herbs well over 2,000 years ago. The Chinese diagnosis of diabetes, its causes and treatment can also be heralded as amongst the most effective given the fact that the incidence of diabetes in China is only about 0.67%, which when compared to the American occurrence of 2.2%, is a very remarkable figure indeed.

The Chinese practice of treating diabetes as per the stage of its development is uncannily similar to the more recent allopathic methods of medication. Chinese medicine refers to diabetes as depletion-thirst disease an allusion to the excessive thirst triggered by relentless urination, which is a hallmark of the imbalances inflicted by diabetes. Chinese medicine has also carved itself another niche with the fact that diagnosis and treatment begin right at the pre-diabetic phase, which is a more recent observation by modern medical science.

Investing in Stocks in Interesting Times

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Some investors have a different view on sharemarket downturns. They see the low stock prices as a chance to grab a good deal.

During times of market volatility, it is our natural instinct to guard our wealth and distance ourselves from risk. While this reaction is unsurprising, it can also mean losing out on growth opportunities created during crazy periods.

Warren Buffet, one of the world’s best known professional investors, believes market downturns from another viewpoint, saying “Look at market fluctuations as your friend rather than your enemy; profit from folly rather than participate in it.”

Generally when we see a lower price for something we want we rush in for a bargain, however it can be quite the opposite with shares. Why is it that we treat stocks that have dropped in price with dread? Stock prices of a listed company can fall for a multitude of reasons. Lately we have seen the share values of a number of reputable companies with healthy balance sheets be negatively affected due to a rush to sell as a result of the economic crisis.

Despite the difficult trading environment, fund managers are constantly reviewing the market for buying opportunities. Many superannuation managers are searching to find stocks in profitable companies with strong balance sheets and dividends. For example Australian companies such as household names like David Jones have delivered strong profits after tax and dividends in 2008. However during 2008, David Jones’ share price fell by more than 30%.

Identifying opportunities
Not all firms will be affected by the world economic crisis in the same way. Some sectors are more susceptible to the economic cycle than others. Companies who deal in of basic goods and services continue on almost unabated, for example we all need to eat - so food producers aren’t as affected as much as tourism, retail or luxury goods.

Australia’s population growth is at a 18 year peak and growing at 1.7% per year. Australia’s growing population provides increasing demand for goods and services as people need food, housing, cars, and other staples. Unlike many overseas countries, Australia benefits from two key factors: a high population growth rate and a high demand for accommodation.

Population growth is nearly twice that of the US while Germany has negative population growth. In the US there is an over-supply of housing while Australia suffers from a lack of supply. The combination of limited accommodation and a rising population will create growing demand for housing which will support further building and provide opportunities for the construction industry.

The value of companies
Many people view businesses with falling share prices with fear, but we need to take a look under the hood of these firms to find out why. Have they borrowed heavily? What industry are they in? Are they competitive against their peers? Only by answering these questions, can we know if their share price has fallen for valid reasons or if the company is indeed on sale’.

When investing, many professional investors look for firms with high and maintainable dividends, strong balance sheets and ongoing cash flow. These companies are more likely to outlive the volatility storm and may give you a greater return when the market moves into the next phase of recovery and beyond.

Before you consider changing your strategy, you should seek financial advice. Having a financial adviser and a long-term financial plan can give you confidence to manage the effects of market cycles. With the right advice you can ensure your investments are tailored to your risk profile and time horizon, giving you the certainty of knowing you’re doing what’s right for you.

Diet And Nutrition

Jenny Craig

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

When it comes to popular diet programs on the market today, one of the most well known is Jenny Craig dieting plan, especially since it has been made popular by so many celebrities. However, you may be wondering if it is a diet that works on more than just celebrities today. Well, let’s take a look at this diet, who it works best for, all the pros and cons, the foods you get to eat, and how it is viewed by the medical community. Then you’ll be better equipped to make a good decision on whether this is the right diet choice for you needs.

Jenny Craig Overview

The Jenny Craig diet has been around for some time and it started out in the early 1980’s in the country of Australia. It wasn’t until 1985 that it finally came to the United States. There are various levels of this system. The first one teaches you how to eat small portions of the food that you want, then later you learn how to increase your energy levels. Last of all, you learn to balance out the nutrition in your life to make sure that you lose the weight and keep it off. Different types of support are offered, including telephone support or you can even go for online support, or visit the offices for support in person.

Who it Works For

This is a diet program that works for people who like the ease of not having to cook for themselves. It also is excellent for those who need a bit of extra support to lose the weight. However, people who are not a fan of meals that are pre-packaged will probably not be a huge fan of this weight loss program.

Pros and Cons

Jenny Craig diet comes with various pros and cons just like any other diet. However, you have to take a look at them to decide if you are happy with the list of pros and cons that you find. Here are some of the pros and cons of using this diet to try to lose weight.

- Pro #1 - Food is Already Prepared - One great pro of going on Jenny Craig is that the food you are going to eat is already prepared. The foods are delivered right to your door, so you don’t even have to prepare your food anymore. Many people love this because it takes the hassle out of trying to cook healthy foods.

- Pro #2 - The Plan is Easy to Follow - Another pro is that the Jenny Craig plan is really easy to follow as well. There are no points to remember and you won’t have to worry about counting carbs or calories either, which makes it easy for you when you are trying to lose weight.

- Pro #3 - The Diet is Balanced - The diet is a fairly well balanced one as well, which is another pro. You get fruits, meats, vegetables, and more, so you won’t feel like you are always being deprived.

- Pro #4 - You Get Personal Coaching - Personal coaching is what many people really love about this diet plan. You have a coach that works with you to help you reach the weight loss goals that you have set for yourself. This can be very helpful and help to keep you motivated and on track as you work on losing weight.

- Con #1 - It Can Really Get Expensive - Of course there are some cons to this diet as well, and one of the main ones is the expense. Since you have to buy the foods from Jenny Craig, it can get very expensive fast. You have to buy all your meals and even your snacks from the company, and they are not so cheap.

- Con #2 - Eating Out is Difficult - Eating out can get difficult as well when you are on this diet. You are not allowed to eat out and you definitely won’t want to cart along your little Jenny Craig meal and ask someone at the restaurant to heat it up for you.

- Con #3 - Refined Carbs are High in this Diet - Another con is that the refined carbs in the Jenny Craig diet are quite high, which is really not great if you are trying to keep the pounds off.

Foods to Eat

When you are on Jenny Craig dieting plan, you only get to eat the meals that you purchase from Jenny Craig. While the meals usually have a nice variety, you may get tired of eating these prepared meals all of the time. It can get boring constantly eating out of a box, so many people are not thrilled with this option.

Opinions from the Medical Community

While people in the medical community feel that the portion sizes are great and that learning portion control is great, many wonder if it will last once people are no longer eating the meals that are not prepackaged for them. Also, people feel that people don’t get the enjoyment they should out of eating, which means that this diet can be hard to stick to. Once people go back to eating normally, it can be difficult to keep eating the right way.

Great Holiday In Port Vila Vanuatu

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

If you ever want to go on a great holiday, it has to be to Port Vila in Vanuatu. It is a great holiday destination and you get all the fun that anyone could ask for in a great break from your everyday life. The Melanesian people are super friendly and Vanuatu was recently voted the most friendly country in the world. Now that is a great award to win.

Port Vila Vanuatu

Port Vila is the capital of Vanuatu. They won independance from France and England in 1980 and changed name from New Hebrides to Vanuatu. There used to be 1,000,000 native Melanesians here but now the numbers are greatly reduced to 200,000. Nowadays Vanuatu relies heavily on tourism to keep their culture alive. The joint agreement between France and England made Vanuatu a peaceful place considering the immense rivalry that has existed between those European nations in the past.

Holiday Destination

Every year, over 60,000 visitors travel to vanuatu as a holiday destination. Considering the population of Vanuatu is not much bigger than that, it is a great feat. Port Vila has only 30,000 people and their friendliness makes up for the small numbers. We chose this as a destination for our internet marketing holiday to practice our social media skills and meet likeminded people. It certainly is a great place for that.

The Pacific island are very friendly and are a must go place for anyone considering a tropical holiday away from the western world. When vanuatu was voted the friendliest country in the world, they surely deserved the title. They smile from ear to ear and are always happy to please.

Consider Port Vila in Vanuatu for your next holiday. I have traveled there twice, the scuba diving is great and the adventures are plenty. Enjoy your next trip to Melanesia.

The wrong autoresponder email marketing can collapse your business

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

The wrong autoresponder email marketing can collapse your business, not build it.

A lot has been said about email marketing as an excellent tool for web marketing but few have been said about its pitfalls. If you plan to use auto responders as a booster for your online sales effort, you should pay particular attention to how your information is delivered to the readers. Basically, you should be concerned about the format in which the information is carried over.

In this article, we try to look at some of the much overlooked points that are a recipe for an email marketing campaign disaster.

Text format

When it comes to text on the internet, there are principally two main types that you can use in your email auto responders as part of your email marketing plain text like the one we see in notepad and html, the commonly used format on the web. Plain text normally contains no formatting but html text has formatting, variable background and can contain graphics.

Now let’s look at the reasons behind your choosing one or the other.

If you are reaching a simple readership without the need for extensive formatting and illustrations in your materials, then the best way to go is plain text for your email marketing. This style of text is easy to read ( as it has a white background) and loads easily because there are no graphics.

However, if you need to put links in your email marketing auto responders that readers will click on, then a problem emerges. People usually associate long links with affiliates. Even if you own the product being offered for sale, many people will shrug at the idea of clicking on a link because they know you are trying to hide behind an ezine or article to sell them a product.

Finding content for WordPress

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Here’s an idea to generate an unending supply of unique web content articles in just 15 minutes. Go to a free article site such as Find-an-Article. You’ll see these websites break down the content into niches. Choose the category that most nearly matches your target. For example, choose networking articles when the site you’re wanting to increase traffic to is in this niche.

Because the articles are in English, copy & paste them into Google’s translator, convert them to French, copy & paste the text again and convert this to German, then convert this back to English. Be sure to correct any words for clarity and ensure that the keywords and phrases you want to exploit stay intact.

Especially if you know nothing about the subject when you start, another great tip is to find an article wizard program which creates content for wordpress such as Instant Article Wizard. I’ve purchased and used many such programs. For the money and ease of use, IAW is one of the best I’ve found. You can generate multiple unique articles on the same topic keywords in a few minutes. This gives you the ability to post to as many web sites as you want, submit to article directories as many times as you desire and receive as much content about a topic as you want. The benefit to you is free content, more pages indexed by MSN and more backlinks to your webpages.

With the capability to generate high quality articles, many doors open up for you. You can create several niche blogs and continually post new content to them. Or, crank out articles to submit to free article sites and get hundreds of back links to your own web pages. Another benefit is to get into the business of writing articles for other webmasters on any keyword phrase they desire. The future is unlimited and up to you.
